The last time I cranked the engine up it geysered oil out the stack coating me with a thick mess of Txas gold and knocked out an inspection door 3-4 ft. Neither sounded at all warm and fuzzy to the dispatcher so I kept heading out the rear door and resetting and firing up the engine. It was either shut 'em down and double the hill or wait for helper engines to tie in behind because the consist was going to fail the hill. The consist was not up to pulling the grade without that motor on line. The second motor kept going down from the governor shutdown device tripping. Years back I had a consist of SD40-2s lumbering up the last grade on my run. It isn't just CN and the Evos that go boom.
